सल्‍तनतकालीन है यह नहर

 

भारत में स्‍वतंत्रता की प्राप्ति के बाद नहरों का सवार्धिक विकास पंजाब तथा हिरयाणा में ही हुआ था। इन राज्‍यों की प्रमुख नहरों में पश्चिमी यमुना नहर मुख्‍य है। इस नहर का निर्माण यमुना नदी के जल से किया गया है। मूल रूप से इसका निर्माण सल्‍तनतकालीन तुगलक शासक फिरोजशाह ने 14वीं शताब्‍दी में करवाया था। 17वीं शताब्‍दी में शेरशाह सूरी ने और 1886 में ब्रिटिश शासन के दौरान नहर का पुननिर्माण किया गया। यह नहर ताजेवाला (अम्‍बाला जिले के समीप) से निकाली गई।

इस नहर की कुल लम्‍बाई 3040 किलोमिटर है, इस नहर से करनाल और हिसार (हरियाणा) तथा पटियाला (पंजाब) के साथ दिल्‍ली और राजस्‍थान में सिंचाई की व्‍यवस्‍था की गई। सरहिन्‍द नहर भी पंजाब और हरियााण की है। इस नहर का निर्माण सतलज नदी के जल के किया गया है। यह नहर रोपड़ (अम्‍बाला) से निकाली गई। इस नहर की कुल लम्‍बाई 6000 किलोमिटर है। (शाखाओं सहित) इस नहर से हिसार तथा पटियाला लुधियाना और फिरोजपुर जिलों में सिंचाई की व्‍यवस्‍था की गई।

जनगढ़ सिंह श्याम एक जादुई आदीवासी कलाकार !

 Tribal Personalities  जनजातीय शख़्सियत  'जनगढ़ सिंह श्याम'  परिचय -  जनगढ़ सिंह श्याम जी का जन्‍म पाटनगढ़ जो कि डिंडोरी जिले में , के प्रधान गोंड परिवार में हुआ था। उन्‍होंने बचपन से हि बहुत गरीबी का सामना किया, गरीबी के चलते उन्‍हें स्‍कूल छोड़ना पड़ा, वे भैंस चराते थे और पास के गॉवों में दुध बेचते थे। सोलह साल की उम्र में उन्होंने सोनपुर गांव की नंकुसिया बाई से शादी की ; जो बाद में उनकी साथी कलाकार बनी। अपनी शादी के कुछ साल बाद, कला संग्रहालय भारत भवन के टैलेंट स्काउट्स ने जनगढ़ सिंह श्याम जी  से संपर्क किया। पहचान  जगदीश स्वामीनाथन ने जंगगढ़ को भोपाल में एक पेशेवर कलाकार के रूप में आने और काम करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। फरवरी 1982 में भारत भवन की उद्घाटन प्रदर्शनी में जंगगढ़ की पहली नमूना पेंटिंग प्रदर्शित की गई। जल्द ही जंगगढ़ को भारत भवन के ग्राफिक कला विभाग में नियुक्त किया गया। उन्होंने जल्दी ही प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त की, जब 1986 में, उनकी 'खोज' के केवल पांच साल बाद, छब्बीस वर्षीय को शिखर सम्मान (शिखर सम्मान) से सम्मानित किया गया - जो मध्य प्रदेश सरक...
