 The Two Gentlemen of Verona by A.J Cronin  As we drove through the foothills of the Alps two small boys stopped us on the outskirts of Verona.  हापरसोनिक मिसाईल हाल ही में भारत स्‍वदेशी हाइपरसोनिक तकनिक में अमरीका , रूस ओर चीन के बाद आब भारत चौथा देश बन गया है। हाइपरसोनिक - ध्वनि की गति से पांच गुना से अधिक की गति से चलना हापरसोनिक कहा जा सकता है। इससे हापरसोनिक क्रूज मिसाइलों के विकास का रास्‍ता साफ हुआ है। सैटैलाइट लॉन्चिंग का खर्च बहुत किफायती हो जाएगा।    इस मिसाईल को रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन DRDO द्वारा बनाया गया है।    

शिव  गिनीज बुक ऑफ वर्ल्‍ड रिकॉड्रर्स मेंं दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी अवाक्ष प्रतिमा के रूप में शामिल की गई कोयम्‍बडूर के ईशा योग फाउंडेशन में स्थित आदियोगी शिव की इस 112.4 फुट ऊंची अर्ध्‍दमूर्ति का वजन करीब 500 टन है। ईशा फाउंडेशन के संस्‍थापक सद्गुगरू जग्‍गी वासुदेश के मुताबिक प्रतिमा की स्‍थपना का उद्देश्‍य योग के लिए प्रेरित करना और और योग को प्रोत्‍साहित करना है और इसीलिए प्रतिमा को आदियोगी नाम दिया गया है क्‍योंकि योग को शिव की देन माना जाता है।  प्रश्चिमी घाट पर्वत श्रंंखला की वेलियांगिरी पहाडियोंं की तलहटी में स्थित इस प्रतिमा का डिजाइन तैयार करने में दो वर्ष लगे जबकि इसके निर्माण में आठ माह का समय लगाा। ईशा फाउंडेशन की योजना देश के पूर्वी, पश्चिमी और उत्‍तरी हिस्‍से में क्रमश: वाराणसी मुंबई और दिल्‍ली में भी ऐसी ही प्रतिमाएं स्‍थापित करने की है। गौरतलब है कि शिव की सबसे ऊंची प्रतिमा नेपाल की राजधानी काठमांडू से 20 किमी पूर्व में स्थित है जिसका नाम है कैलाशनाथ महादेव और इस प्रतिमा की ऊंचाई है 143 फुट।    

  गंगा नदी - River Ganga  गंगा नदी भारत की सबसे महत्‍वपूर्ण नदी होने के साथ ही राष्‍ट्रीय नदी भी है।यह अपने उद्यगम स्‍थल गंगोत्री से बंगाल की खाड़ी तक 2510 किमी. - (भारत में 2071 किमी) की दूरी तय करती है। लगभग 100 फीट की अधितम गहराई वाली यह नदी हमारे देश में  धार्मिक, आध्‍यात्मिक, सामाजिक सभी प्रकार से महत्‍व रखती है। गंगा नदी का उल्‍लेख देश-विदेश के पुरातन लेखाेें, ग्रंथों आदि में भी मिलता है। इस नदी में मछलियों तथा, सर्पों की अनेक प्रजातियों के साथ मीठे पानी वाली दुर्लभ डॉलफिन भी पाई जाती है।  गांगा नदी के पानी के बारे में वैज्ञानिकों का मानना है कि इस नदी के जल में बैक्‍टीरियोफेज नामक विषाणु होते हैं, जो जीवाणुओं व अन्‍य हानिकारक सूक्ष्‍मजीवों को जीवित नहीं रहने देते हैं। भारत सरकार ने 1986 में इलाहाबाद और हल्दिया के बीच (लगभग 1600 किमी) गंगा नदी लजमार्ग को राष्‍ट्रीय जलमार्ग घोषित किया था। गंगा नदी की प्रधान शाखा भागीरथी है, जो कुमायूंं में हिमा के गोमुख नामक स्‍थान पर गंगोत्री हिमनद से निकलती है। गंगा के इस उद्यगम स्‍थल की ऊंचाई 3140 मीटर है।
